Menghadapi Puasa Sebagai Nursing Mummy

Less than a week nak menjengah bulan Ramadhan. Alhmdulillah 3 tahun berturut-turut, ibu berjaya berpuasa penuh di bln Ramadhan. Ye lah, 2008 mengandungkan Aniq, 2009 BF Aniq, 2010 mengandungkan Aqif. Hopefully this year pun ibu boleh berpuasa penuh walaupun masih BF Aqif.

Alhamdulillah. Stok susu EBM utk bekalan sekiranya susu tak meriah di bulan puasa nnt insyaallah cukup. Walaupun hasil simpanan mengikut bulan, tak la memcecah ratusan oz, tp memadai utk Aqif minum sehingga 2-3 bulan lagi. Itu pun dah consume 2/3 daripada space DF di rumah. Sekarang, Aqif masih berbekalkan tok EBM bulan Mac.

Power Pumping
Power pumping is a technique that can be helpful in building a milk supply. For more information on basic pumping techniques, see the pumping section below. Here is a brief explanation of power pumping.

Power pumping involves using regular pumping techniques and setup, but in a unique way. The idea is to mimic a baby who is nursing frequently to increase a mother’s supply, as is common in the nursing relationship during a growth spurt. To power pump, hook-up as you would for a normal pumping session, pump for 10-20 minutes, rest 10 minutes, then pump another 10 minutes, then rest for 10 minutes, then pump again for 10 minutes. The mother does this for about an hour, once per day, to increase supply. At other pumping times during the day, routine pumping is used. It can take about a week to see an increase, so don’t get discouraged.

Some mothers prefer to concentrate their efforts and have a power pumping weekend, called “Power Pumping Boot Camp” by some lactation consultants. They power pump at each pumping for a couple of days before returning to routine pumping.


Basically, tulisan oren ckp, kita pump 10 min-rehat 10 min-pump 10 min-rehat 10 min-pump 10 min-rehat 10 min-pump 10 min. Buat la at least once a day. Power pumping ni mcm imitate situasi baby keep on nak menyusu dgn kita. Secara tidak langsung, signal diberi kpd otak utk produce more milk.

Nampak mcm penat, tapi insyaallah berbaloi. Ibu pon akan start power pumping in few days.

Antara petua dan tips lain bagi ibu menyusu di bulan puasa:

*Banyakkan memakan kurma dan makanan penambah susu seperti sayuran hijau, oat, dan sebagainya.
*Jangan skip sahur (lagipun sahur tu sunat).
*Banyakkan sesi penyusuan dan mengepam, terutama di waktu malam dan waktu sahur.
*Banyakkan bertenang.
*Mengambil supplement seperti vitamin B complex.
*Cuba makan dan minum sedikit-sedikit dan kerap pada waktu malam (takut bloated pula bila sekaligus).
*Bawa sebotol air semasa jemaah terawikh dan minum sedikit antara rakaat2.
*Banyakkan berdoa dan berfikiran positif.


Walau apa pun, semuanya yang berlaku adalah kehendak ALLAH s.w.t. Ibu sebagai hamba-NYA hanya mampu berdoa agar ALLAH terus mengurniakan rezeki yg satu ini demi meneruskan penyusuan susu ibu kepada Aqif sehingga usia 2 tahun.
